Hélène Philippart was born in Lyon, France, but spent part of her childhood in Morocco, Africa, where she studied piano, and in South America (mostly Uruguay), where she learned to play the flute and where she graduated from the prestigious National Conservatory of Uruguay.
Hélène’s professional career began at the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra with which she has toured the Americas and Europe. Her solo and ensemble career has brought her to worldwide famous festivals and institutions, such as the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Academy (Switzerland), the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria), and, more recently, the Basel Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland). Her latest project is a collaborative effort with Indian Classical Flutist Shri Hari Prasad Paudyal in Varanasi, North India. She is dedicated to the study of Indian classical music known as ragas on the Hindustani classical flute, the bansuri.
